Anyone who has been involved in biofeedback and neurofeedback for any length of time is probably struck by the sense of promise unfulfilled. We know that we can be helpful for a variety of conditions that afflict mankind, and yet the organization of health care delivery seems to frustrate the actualization of this potential from all quarters. In the following, an attempt is made to understand the principal reasons why this might be so. The hope is that an agenda for action might emerge that can replace mere cursing of the darkness. More
Neurofeedback Therapy As a Treatment For Psychogenic Non-Epileptic Seizures (PNES)

The history of neurofeedback treatment of patients with epileptic seizures, particularly focal seizures originating in the temporal lobes, is well established. In the 1970s Barry Sterman discovered, quite serendipitously, that cats selectively reinforced to generate the sensory motor rhythm (SMR) were protected against seizures after exposure to monomethyl hydrazine (rocket fuel). Exposure to hydrazine causes severe seizures in mammals, but animals conditioned to produce SMR were far less susceptible to them. More

Since concentrating on neurotherapy as my primary therapeutic tool, my research has focused on developing techniques for increasing the efficiency and accelerat ing t he process of modifying brain functioning. Many neurotherapists do provide clients with various adjunctive self-administered treatments to facilitate the therapeutic process. These “add ons” include relaxation exercises, self-hypnosis, energy psychology rout ines, life style modification recommendations, subliminal affirmation devices, cranial microamperage stimulators, audiovisual stimulators and therapeutic harmonics. The reason for prescribing these procedures, of course, is because they are believd to potentiate the therapeutic process. More

A Brief Overview of the Chemistry of Respiration and the Breathing Heart Wave

Respiration is behavioral-physiologic homeostasis, a form of self-regulatory behavior, which constitutes a transport system for delivery of atmospheric oxygen to each and every tissue based on their specific metabolic requirements, including the transport of metabolic carbon dioxide from the cells to outside air.
